Immediate Start: Senior SOX Auditor required for Dual-Listed Mining Group

Sapientis is headhunting a high-caliber Contract Internal Auditor for an immediate, high-priority 3-month project commencing strictly on 1 July 2026.

This is an execution-heavy contract designed for an independent consultant who does not require hand-holding. To be considered, you must bring a deep, non-negotiable combination of recent Mining sector experience and a mastery of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance frameworks within a listed corporate structure.

The role is Gauteng-based but operates on a largely remote delivery model, offering the autonomy to drive execution while meeting rigorous global assurance standards.

Key Mandate

• SOX Control Testing: Execute rigorous, end-to-end testing of internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) in compliance with SOX mandates.
• Mining Operations Risk Audit: Conduct focused, risk-based reviews tailored specifically to capital-intensive mining cycles, asset tracking, and related operational structures.
• Gap Analysis: Identify complex control deficiencies, quantify business risks, and deliver immediate, actionable remediation strategies.
• Defensible Reporting: Compile top-tier audit workpapers and high-impact draft reports strictly aligned to IIA standards for executive and committee evaluation.

Non-Negotiable Requirements

• Industry & Framework: Clear, proven audit experience inside the Mining Sector AND deep hands-on expertise with SOX compliance/testing are both absolute non-negotiables.
• Qualifications: BCom Honours in Internal Auditing or Accounting. A CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) or CA(SA) designation is highly preferred.
• Experience Level: 6–10+ years of robust internal audit experience, ideally honed during completed articles and subsequent senior contracting roles within listed entities.
• Availability: Must be completely unencumbered and available to kick off on Wednesday, 1 July 2026.
• Location: Must be currently based in Gauteng for initial onboarding and alignment.
