Financial Accountant

Korridor is looking for an experienced Financial Accountant for a contract role to support the fuel entities from source entries through to trial balance. The role will focus on accurate financial record keeping, monthend discipline, inventory and fuel depot costing, reconciliations between operational and accounting systems, audit support, and clear feedback to the Financial Manager on risks, blockers and exceptions.
What you will do
- Own accurate financial record keeping from source entries through to trial balance under the Financial Manager.
- Ensure accounting entries are booked correctly in the General Ledger and month-end deadlines are met.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for all accounts and resolve differences quickly.
- Reconcile operational information to accounting records, including system exceptions and data issues.
- Customer invoice import and reconciliation.
- Own inventory costing in the GL,
- Standard costing and related cost build-ups where applicable.
- Perform cost accounting for fuel depots and ensure supporting schedules agree to the GL.
- Perform month-end reporting processes.
- Support FP&A with variance analysis, deep dives and monthly management report commentary.
- Ensure intercompany loan accounts balance and investigate any differences.
- Review VAT submissions for the local entity and support monthly VAT reconciliations.
- Assist the Financial Manager with treasury payment approval requests where required.
- Complete and review Jira tasks, checking the accuracy and completeness of work performed. – Perform monthly task creation, allocation, policies, process documentation and team queries.
What we are looking for
- BCom Accounting Degree or equivalent.
- 5+ years of relevant experience if qualified, or 8-10 years if not formally qualified.
- Able to add value quickly in a short-term contract with limited hand-holding.
- Strong month-end, trial balance, General Ledger, reconciliation and management accounts experience.
- Inventory costing, standard costing and cost accounting exposure; fuel depot or high-volume operations experience preferred.
- Good understanding of financial, tax and operational requirements across multiple African territories.
- Experience working with accounting software, payroll software and operational data feeds. Exposure to Xero, Business Central, Power BI or similar reporting tools is preferred.
- Advanced MS Excel, strong numerical accuracy, analytical ability and attention to detail.
- Able to work independently, maintain confidentiality, accept feedback and deliver under sustained pressure.
- Good written and verbal English communication, with practical problem-solving and relationship management skills.
- Experience working across Sub-Saharan Africa or within a multinational organisation will be an advantage.
- Previous exposure to inventory, BOMs or cost build-ups in a fuel, logistics or depot environment will be an advantage.
- Additional languages relevant to the operating territories is an advantage.
