POSITION INFO

Our client, a reputable player within the financial services sector, is seeking a Credit Analyst to join their Credit and Risk team. Reporting to senior leadership within the credit function, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and evaluating credit applications, identifying and mitigating risk, and making informed credit decisions within an approved lending mandate. This role offers exposure to credit underwriting, portfolio management, risk analysis, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to the organization's overall credit strategy and growth objectives. Key Responsibilities: Assess and analyze financial information, including bank statements, management accounts, credit bureau reports, and supporting documentation Evaluate credit applications and make credit decisions within approved delegated authority limits Identify potential risks, trends, and mitigating factors associated with lending opportunities Conduct both qualitative and quantitative assessments of applicants and counterparties Prepare detailed credit recommendations and approval documentation for higher-level review where required Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, governance standards, and risk frameworks Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure complete and accurate deal submissions Work closely with sales and operational teams to structure commercially viable transactions Communicate approvals, declines, and conditional decisions professionally and efficiently Maintain accurate deal records and supporting documentation within internal systems Monitor existing exposures for signs of deterioration, emerging risks, or adverse trends Participate in portfolio reviews, trend analyses, and risk assessment initiatives Assist with the enhancement of credit processes, policies, models, and decision-making tools Identify early warning indicators and contribute to corrective and preventative risk actions Job Experience and Skills Required: Education: Matric (Grade 12) essential Diploma or Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field preferred Experience: Minimum 1-3 years' experience within a credit analysis, underwriting, or risk management environment Experience assessing SME creditworthiness and interpreting financial statements Exposure to financial services, lending, asset-based finance, or commercial credit environments advantageous Experience working with credit bureau platforms and credit risk assessment tools preferred Skills: Strong financial analysis and credit assessment capabilities Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and strong computer literacy Understanding of credit risk principles, collections processes, recourse structures, and risk mitigation techniques Excellent analytical and critical-thinking abilities High attention to detail and ability to make sound decisions under pressure Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments Strong organizational and time-management skills Ability to identify risk trends and recommend practical solutions Apply now!
