Role Purpose

  • The Head of Intermediated Distribution is responsible for developing, implementing, and successfully delivering Momentum Insure’s intermediated distribution strategy and value proposition. The objective is to position Momentum Insure as the preferred partner within its chosen market segments, driving accelerated and sustainable growth.
  • This role oversees two strategic channels: retail and specialist short-term insurance Independent Financial Advisers (IFAs). It includes ownership of key strategic partnerships such as Consult by Momentum, Momentum Financial Planning (MFP) (a tied agency force), and external alliances including motor manufacturers (e.g. MBFSA). The incumbent will ensure alignment across these channels while optimising performance and managing channel dynamics.

Requirements

  • 5-10 years senior management experience within a distribution or sales function
  • Knowledge of both personal and commercial insurance
  • Knowledge of binder systems and operations
  • Knowledge of marketing principles
  • Knowledge of insurance regulatory framework

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the intermediated distribution (IFA) strategy and differentiated value proposition across IFA and strategic partnership channels.
  • Deliver on agreed financial targets by tracking and executing against monthly, quarterly, and annual KPIs aligned with company objectives.
  • Define, implement, and embed the IFA value proposition and partner framework.
  • Lead and manage a national distribution team across regional offices, ensuring optimal structure, performance, and face-to-face coverage.
  • Ensure Broker Sales Managers and Specialist Marketing Advisors (SMAs) develop and execute aligned regional business plans.
  • Equip SMAs with market-leading insights, tools, and thought leadership material to support adviser engagement.
  • Collaborate with Momentum Insure’s Marketing and Communications team to develop and implement an IFA-focused marketing and communication strategy.
  • Support the development of financial advisers entering the short-term insurance (STI) market.
  • Participate strategically in Sales and Distribution management forums (Manco).
  • Collaborate with call centre and sales enablement structures to ensure seamless service and support to intermediated channels.
  • Drive understanding and application of matrix management principles.
  • Identify and facilitate broker joint ventures and strategic partnerships.
  • Explore and implement alternative distribution opportunities.
  • Manage relationships with key partners and stakeholders, both internal and external.
  • Establish executive reporting frameworks to track growth initiatives, partner performance, and value proposition adoption.
  • Provide market and competitor intelligence to inform strategy.
  • Ensure cost of distribution across channels aligns with long-term business targets, including reviewing partner and Marketing adviser’s remuneration structure.

Stakeholder Management

  • Maintain regular engagement with financial advisers through face-to-face interactions and regional visits.
  • Represent Momentum Insure at external partner engagements, including executive-level interactions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, operations, product) to support informed decision-making.
  • Review partner practices to improve operational efficiency, new business growth, and client retention.
  • Contribute to partner strategy formulation and align internal resources to support execution.
  • Build and maintain a strong network through industry forums, benchmarking, and external engagement.
  • Foster a culture of strong relationships, continuous feedback, and exceptional partner experience.
  • Engage regularly with stakeholders to identify and address partner business needs.
  • Identify and assist in managing FAIS-related risks impacting partners.

General Management

  • Provide input into financial policies, practices, and procedures, and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Ensure effective allocation and utilization of financial resources.
  • Collaborate with partner marketing teams to ensure alignment in campaigns and co-created materials supporting IFA initiatives.
  • Monitor and improve partner onboarding, training, and development programmes.
  • Establish and maintain an effective communication framework to ensure consistent and clear communication with partners.
