We are looking to recruit a Steward to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the kitchen, ensuring all utensils, equipment, and work areas are properly cleaned, sanitized, and available for use. The Kitchen Steward supports the smooth running of food preparation and service by providing clean, well-maintained tools and equipment to the culinary team while adhering to all health, safety, and environmental standards.

Steward | Hourly Paid | Newlands Cape Town | Onsite

Key Accountabilities

  • Wash dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and other kitchen equipment thoroughly and efficiently.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the kitchen, including floors, work areas, and storage spaces.
  • Ensure an adequate supply of clean dishes, glassware, and utensils for service.
  • Properly dispose of kitchen waste and maintain waste management systems.
  • Store cleaning chemicals and kitchen equipment safely according to regulations.
  • Support kitchen staff by organizing and tidying up storage areas.
  • Ensure compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations always

Minimum Requirements

  • Matric (Advantageous)
  • Shift work including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Previous experience in a kitchen cleaning or scullery (advantageous)
  • Clean criminal record
