The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining enterprise data solutions that enable advanced analytics, improve cost-effectiveness and ensure flexibility across systems. The role focuses on building robust data pipelines, integrating multiple sources and maintaining high data quality standards while collaborating across teams and influencing technical architecture.

You will be an ideal candidate if you possess the following skills:

  • Acquire, transform and load data into enterprise data warehouses and reservoirs.

  • Design and maintain data marts, models and flows.

  • Automate data pipelines and task scheduling for operational analytics.

  • Conduct gap analysis, cost/effort assessments, and prepare business cases.

  • Build unit and system tests to ensure successful delivery into production.

  • Manage User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and signoff through change control.

  • Perform data quality assessments and implement monitoring and alerts.

  • Research emerging technologies and recommend solutions for flexibility and cost-effectiveness.

  • Present technology solutions to senior leadership and influence IT data analytics transformation.

  • Provide analytic infrastructure and big data support to Data Operations and Analytics teams.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, clients, and senior management to understand business requirements.

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Have 4+ years’ experience in data engineering or related roles.

  • Hold a relevant degree (BSc/BCom/BEng in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Systems).

  • Possess advanced certifications in Ab Initio (highly valued).

  • Have proven experience in financial services (advantageous).

  • Demonstrate proficiency in ETL tools (Ab Initio, others), data warehousing and performance optimisation.

  • Are skilled in Python, Spark, and Linux shell scripting.

  • Have experience with databases (Teradata, SQL Server, Hive, Zeppelin).

  • Understand big data tools (Hadoop ecosystem, Kafka).

  • Are familiar with BI tools (Power BI, SSAS, SSIS, SAS).

  • Can manage scheduling and automation with Control-M.
