Consumer Communications Writer

PRIMARY PURPOSE
We are looking for a Consumer Communications Writer to join our marketing team. This is a mid-to-senior level role responsible for crafting compelling, on-brand content across consumer touchpoints - from campaigns and digital platforms, to CRM, blogs and storytelling.
This role sits at the intersection of creative storytelling, brand voice, and performance marketing, translating strategic objectives into clear, engaging, and effective communications that resonate with our audience and drive measurable impact.
Detailed Responsibilities
Content Creation and copywriting
- Write high-quality, engaging copy across a range of channels, including:
- Social media (organic and paid).
- Website and landing pages.
- Email and CRM communications.
- Campaign messaging and brand storytelling.
- Develop platform-native content tailored to channel best practice and audience behaviour.
- Adapt tone and messaging across formats while maintaining a consistent brand voice.
- Impact stories to bring across our core purpose and conservation efforts.
Campaign and consumer messaging
- Collaborate with marketing, creative, and brand teams to shape campaign narratives.
- Translate briefs into clear messaging hierarchies, hooks, and CTAs.
- Develop multi-format content ecosystems (short-form video scripts, captions, long-form copy).
- Ensure messaging aligns with overall brand positioning, tone of voice and business objectives.
- Translate complex or niche concepts (like conservation efforts or sustainability practices), into engaging, accessible narratives.
Brand voice and editorial consistency
- Act as a guardian of brand voice, tone, and language.
- Contribute to the evolution of editorial guidelines and messaging frameworks.
- Review and refine copy across the team to ensure consistency, clarity, and quality.
- Balance creativity with clarity and simplicity.
Performance and Optimisation
- Write with performance in mind to optimise for engagement, conversion, and retention.
- Test messaging variations
- Analyse results
- Iterate based on insights.
- Apply best practices in SEO, CRO, and social content optimization.
Research and content sourcing
- Conduct regular, in-depth research on the camps, ecosystems, wildlife and communities in the regions in which we operate.
- Identify and craft original, emotionally resonant stories drawn from real, on-the-ground experiences, with a strong focus on human and conservation narratives.
- Stay informed on emerging conservation narratives, seasonal changes, and regional developments to identify compelling story opportunities.
- Spend time in the field to source authentic, first-hand content, building a sound understanding of each camp’s unique selling points, environment and conservation impact.
- Translate on-the-ground observations into engaging narratives that bring the experience, people, and purpose of each location to life.
- Apply sound editorial judgment to ensure all stories align with brand positioning, balancing luxury experience with conservation purpose.
- Conduct insightful interviews with diverse stakeholders (guides, camp staff, and experts), to capture authentic perspectives and translate them into compelling content.
- Prepare thoroughly for interviews while remaining adaptable in the field to capture spontaneous, story-rich moments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with on-the-ground teams to surface authentic, often untold stories and insights.
Cross-functional Collaboration
Partner with:
- Designers and video editors to ensure integrated storytelling.
- Product/marketing teams to align messaging with offerings.
- CRM team to craft engaging stories and key messages for our core consumer audience segments.
- Organic and Paid Social media teams to develop content for different channels that is relevant to the various target consumers.
- Regional or channel leads to tailor communication for different audiences.
- Direct sales team to glean insights and tailor content based on key insights and learnings.
Content Development and Innovation
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve content effectiveness.
- Contribute ideas for new formats, content series, and storytelling approaches.
- Stay on top of consumer trends, platform shifts, and content innovation.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Qualification
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience
- 5 - 8+ years’ experience in copywriting, content, or editorial roles.
- Proven experience writing for consumer-facing brands.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating: Campaign work, Digital & social content and Versatility across formats
- Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Deep understanding of social-first and mobile-first content.
- Ability to balance brand storytelling with performance objectives.
- Experience in content development across multiple channels: web, print, social, CRM, and digital campaigns.
Skills
- Good understanding of luxury consumer psychology, behavior, and emerging trends.
- Excellent research and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global remote work environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Docs, and other content creation tools.
- Attention to detail and a strong eye for design.
