Our client is seeking an experienced External Sales Representative to drive revenue growth by selling engineering consumables to the hard-rock underground mining sector, focusing on PGMs in the Rustenburg region. This full-time role requires a technical sales professional dedicated to frequent face-to-face client engagement and robust market expansion.
Key responsibilities
- Sales & Growth: Execute cold calling, lead follow-ups, and live product demonstrations to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
- Relationship Management: Conduct frequent on-site visits to build strong partnerships with mining houses, contractors, and engineering teams.
- Technical Support: Provide technical advice and after-sales support for underground/surface applications, quickly resolving client complaints.
- Commercial Cycle: Manage the full sales lifecycle: generate quotations, track orders, monitor stock availability, and update customers.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor competitor activity and market trends to inform sales strategies and complete accurate monthly reporting.
Requirements include
- Experience: 5+ years of proven sales experience within a mining, industrial, or engineering environment.
- Industry Focus: Demonstrated success selling directly to hard-rock underground mining operations (PGMs).
- Product Knowledge: Technical experience with mining consumables (valves, snatchblocks, hoses) is highly advantageous.
- Education: Matric (Grade 12). A qualification in Business, Marketing, or Engineering is a plus.
- Logistics: Valid driver's license and absolute willingness to travel frequently around Rustenburg.
Core Skills
- Deep understanding of hard-rock underground mining processes and MHSA safety regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office for reporting/forecasting and experience using CRM/ERP systems.
