SUMMARY

Supervises daily repair and maintenance operations, ensuring the fleet of forklifts and industrial equipment is safe, compliant and operational

POSITION INFO

QUALIFICATIONS Red Seal or MerSETA Qualified Diesel Mechanic or Forklift Technician (with strong hydraulic and electrical/battery experience) 3 to 5 years of post-trade experience, with previous supervisory or foreman experience KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise, mentor and allocate daily tasks to a team of Diesel Mechanics, Technicians and Apprentices Conduct performance appraisals, identify skills gaps and coordinate in-house technical training Manage workshop schedules, leave and attendance to ensure adequate coverage Oversee planned preventative maintenance schedules (PPM) and attend to urgent equipment breakdowns Ensure all diagnostic and mechanical repairs on IC (Internal Combustion) and electric forklifts meet OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) standards Test drive and approve repaired equipment before it is returned to the customer Review and manage job cards, labor hours and work orders to track technician productivity Monitor workshop Work in Progress (WIP) daily to ensure turnaround times and service-level targets are met Manage spare parts inventory, procure replacement parts and ensure proper stock control Interact with internal stakeholders and external customers to communicate technical requirements and repair quotes Handle escalated technical queries and assist Technicians in troubleshooting complex hydraulic, electrical and engine issues Ensure strict adherence to OHS (Occupational Health and Safety) regulations and company safety policies Maintain clean workshop "housekeeping" and ensure all specialized tools and diagnostic equipment are calibrated and safe to use
