A leading manufacturing company in JHB South is looking for a Technical Training & Compliance Specialist to join their team.

POSITION INFO

Experienced and motivated Technical Training & Compliance Specialist is required to lead and manage all aspects of technical, regulatory, and skills development training within the organisation. This position plays a critical role in ensuring employee competency, regulatory. compliance, quality standards, safety awareness, and continuous improvement across the business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining training programmes that support manufacturing excellence, aviation compliance, skills development, and employee growth Key Responsibilities Training Management: Develop, implement, and maintain the company training system. Develop and deliver technical training programmes for production, quality, engineering, and support departments. Create, review, and maintain training modules, presentations, assessments, and technical learning material. Conduct Training Needs Analyses (TNA) to identify competency gaps and training requirements. Monitor training effectiveness and implement improvements where required. Coordinate internal and external training interventions. Regulatory Compliance Ensure all training programmes comply with applicable South African Civil Aviation Authority (SACAA) regulations and company requirements. Act as the primary training representative during SACAA audits and regulatory inspections. Monitor regulatory changes and ensure training programmes and materials remain current and compliant. Maintain training records required for regulatory compliance and audit purposes. Support departmental compliance with aviation training requirements. Skills Development Compile and submit the Annual Training Report (ATR) and Workplace Skills Plan (WSP). Liaise with external stakeholders and regulatory bodies relating to skills development requirements. Manage training grants and skills development reporting where applicable. Maintain accurate records of completed, planned, and recurring training activities. Safety and SMS Work closely with the company's Safety Consultants to support safety awareness and compliance initiatives. Assist in the implementation and promotion of the company's Safety Management System (SMS). Ensure safety-related training requirements are identified, developed, and delivered. Support safety investigations where training or competency factors are identified. Training Material Development Develop, issue, and maintain One Point Lessons (OPLs). Create and distribute weekly Toolbox Talks aligned with company objectives, quality initiatives, and safety requirements. Develop training material to support quality improvement, first-time-right culture, human factors, workmanship standards, and continuous improvement initiatives. Competency Management Develop and maintain departmental Skills Matrixes. Monitor employee competency and coordinate refresher training where required. Ensure employee qualifications, certifications, and training records remain current. Conduct assessments and evaluations to verify competency. Continuous Improvement Work closely with Production, Quality, Engineering, and Safety departments to identify performance gaps and implement practical training solutions. Support quality improvement initiatives, corrective actions, and continuous improvement programmes. Analyse trends related to defects, rework, incidents, and competency gaps. Develop training interventions aimed at improving quality, productivity, safety, and compliance. Qualifications Grade 12 (Matric). Qualification in Training and Development Aviation, Engineering, Manufacturing, Education, Quality Management, or a related field Accredited Facilitator qualification Assessor and Moderator qualifications will be advantageous. Formal Safety Management System (SMS) training from an accredited training organisation is essential. Experience Minimum 5 years' experience in a technical training, aviation, manufacturing, quality, or regulatory environment. Experience developing and presenting technical training material. Experience creating OPLs, training modules, competency assessments, and skills matrixes. Experience compiling Workplace Skills Plans (WSPs) and Annual Training Reports (ATRs). Experience supporting audits and regulatory compliance activities. Experience working within a highly regulated environment. Essential Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS). Sound knowledge of SACAA regulations and aviation industry requirements. Strong technical aptitude with the ability to understand manufacturing and aviation processes. Ability to interpret technical drawings, work instructions, procedures, engineering specifications, and quality requirements. Excellent presentation, facilitation, coaching, and mentoring skills. Strong report writing and administrative skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Strong planning, organisation, and problem-solving abilities. Ability to work effectively with production, quality, engineering, safety, and management teams.
