ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Join Flight Centre Travel Group as a Tax Specialist and play a key role in shaping the tax landscape for our South African operations. This is a hands-on and strategic position where you’ll drive compliance, influence risk management, and partner with finance and operational leaders. You’ll be part of a collaborative global tax network, contributing to impactful decisions while improving systems and processes that support business growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage end-to-end tax compliance functions across all FC RSA entities
  • Prepare and file corporate income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Oversee VAT, employment taxes, and other tax obligations including withholding taxes
  • Prepare tax effect accounting work papers for audits and statutory reporting
  • Liaise with Global Tax teams, external auditors, and internal stakeholders
  • Handle all SARS communications, queries, and audits
  • Identify tax risks and implement solutions in response to legislative changes
  • Provide tax advisory support to operational and finance leaders
  • Drive continuous improvement of tax policies, systems, and processes
  • Support payroll team with employment tax matters
  • Deliver tax training and induction sessions to finance teams
  • Participate in tax-related projects, research, and implementation initiatives
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across finance and operations

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Tertiary qualification in a finance discipline
  • Professional affiliation preferred (SAICA, SAIPA or SAIT)
  • 3–5 years’ experience in corporate tax or a reputable chartered firm
  • Strong tax technical knowledge across corporate tax, VAT, and employment taxes
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of professionalism and attention to detail
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Experience within the broader finance function is advantageous
  • Willingness to travel as required
