Project Sales & Business Development Manager

Location: Century City, Cape Town

Salary: R620,000 CTC per annum (approximately R51,600 CTC per month)

Technical Background (Essential)

This is not a general Business Development or Account Management role.

Candidates must have a technical background within one or more of the following industries:

Candidates without technical electrical exposure are unlikely to be considered.

Technical Qualification (Strongly Preferred)

Completed qualification in a relevant field such as:

  • BTech
  • BEng

Sales Experience

Minimum

2 years' experience in:

  • Technical Sales
  • Project Sales
  • Business Development
  • Solution Sales
  • Key Account Management

within an electrical or automation environment.

Project Sales Experience

Candidates should have experience selling into projects rather than transactional sales, including:

  • Specification Sales
  • Consulting Engineers
  • Contractors
  • Construction Projects
  • Industrial Projects
  • Capital Projects

Technical Knowledge

Exposure to some of the following is highly advantageous:

  • KNX

Other Requirements

  • B2B sales experience.
  • Project management exposure.
  • Comfortable conducting technical presentations.
  • Able to build relationships with consultants, contractors and system integrators.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Own reliable vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel throughout South Africa.

Role Purpose

This is a technical Project Sales and Business Development role responsible for growing the company's intelligent lighting solutions business throughout South Africa, with future expansion into Sub-Saharan Africa.

The successful candidate will:

  • Build a commissioning partner network.
  • Drive projects from specification through implementation.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Develop strategic business opportunities across South Africa.
  • Support future expansion into Sub-Saharan Africa.

  • Build long-term customer relationships.

Solution & Project Sales

  • Drive project and solution sales.
  • Promote intelligent indoor and outdoor lighting control systems.
  • Generate project pipelines.
  • Identify commercial projects before tender stage.
  • Work with consulting engineers to ensure products are specified.
  • Manage projects from specification through commissioning and completion.

Market Development

Develop relationships with:

  • Electrical Consultants

Increase market awareness through:

  • Technical presentations

Partner Network Development

Establish a network of qualified commissioning partners capable of installing and commissioning intelligent lighting control systems throughout South Africa.

Technical Support

Provide customers with:

  • Product implementation guidance
  • Support during pilot projects

Project Management

Coordinate with:

  • Internal technical teams
  • Contractors
  • Installers
  • Customers
  • Consultants

Attend:

  • Site meetings
  • Project reviews
  • Commissioning activities

Monitor projects from specification through successful implementation.

Commercial Responsibilities

  • Prepare quotations and tenders.
  • Negotiate pricing.
  • Achieve monthly sales targets.
  • Maintain CRM records.
  • Prepare sales forecasts and reports.

Software

Experience with:
