Draughtsman / Junior Mechanical Designer - Durbanville, Cape Town - Salary: R12 000 - R18 000 PM About the Role Looking to get your foot in the door of the fast-paced automated machinery industry? This is your chance! We are recruiting for an enthusiastic Junior Designer or Draughtsman to join a dynamic engineering team focused on cutting-edge FMCG machinery design. This role is designed to bridge the gap between theory and world-class practical engineering. You will work side-by-side with senior designers, handling 2D detailing, 3D modelling, and data management while taking on introductory junior design assignments. Key Responsibilities Design Support: Assist senior designers by creating 3D models and detailed 2D manufacturing drawings in Autodesk Inventor. Data Control: Manage data, parts, and drawing revisions using Autodesk VAULT to ensure full traceability. Documentation: Generate accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs), part lists, and assembly documentation. Cross-Functional Teamwork: Collaborate with production, fabrication, and assembly teams to learn how designs transition from the screen to the workshop floor. Requirements Education: Completed Mechanical Engineering qualification, diploma, or degree. Experience: 1-2 years of practical experience OR a recent graduate hungry to learn. Technical Knowledge: Foundational understanding of Autodesk Inventor, GD&T, materials, and fabrication techniques. Attributes: High attention to detail, a strong desire to learn, and a proactive problem-solving attitude.
