About the Role

As an Overhead Electrical Linesmen, you'll play a critical role in the construction, maintenance, repair, and upgrading of electricity distribution networks.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Undertaking Hot Stick or Glove & Barrier work methods up to and including 66kV
  • Identifying electrical systems in preparation for work
  • Climbing and working on electricity network structures
  • Operating line construction machinery, plant, and equipment
  • Inspecting and assessing the condition of electricity supply lines
  • Applying and removing earths from overhead conductors
  • Developing work plans for network construction and maintenance activities
  • Joining and installing overhead conductors
  • Replacing and maintaining pole hardware and pole structures
  • Installing and replacing electricity network pole structures
  • Operating electrical equipment associated with distribution networks
  • Supporting network reliability and customer service outcomes
  • Working safely and in accordance with industry regulations and standards

Highly Regarded

  • Live line training and certification
  • Experience working on distribution networks up to 66kV
  • Experience with Hot Stick and Glove & Barrier methodologies
  • The ability to obtain New Zealand industry registration and licensing requirements

What We're Looking For

To be successful in this role, you'll have:

  • A Electrical Line Mechanic: Overhead Lines (Red Seal QCTO)
  • A minimum of 2 years' post-qualification experience in overhead distribution line work
  • Experience working on live electricity networks
  • Strong knowledge of industry safety practices and procedures
  • A commitment to quality workmanship and safe work practices
  • The ability to work effectively within a team environment
