Job Advert Summary
Rondebosch Boys' Preparatory School is seeking to employ a highly motivated, experienced and passionate Aftercare Manager to lead our dedicated team and oversee the daily operations of our vibrant aftercare program. This pivotal role involves managing a team of 9 staff members and providing comprehensive care and supervision for approximately 120 boys aged 6 to 13 years. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a safe, respectful and enriching environment that supports academics, sport and personal growth.
We are looking for someone who brings high energy and a positive attitude to working with young children, demonstrates cultural sensitivity and a strong commitment to inclusion, and values collaboration and open communication in a team setting.

Minimum Requirements
Requirements
- A relevant Degree or Diploma in Education.
- A minimum of three years experience in the relevant educational field.
- At least three years' proven management experience, with the ability to lead teams and effectively manage operational environments.
- Current registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
- Valid Police Clearance Certificate and Child Protection Clearance Certificate.
- Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- A genuine passion for working with children.
- Demonstrated ability to act responsibly, professionally and with integrity.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient when handling challenging or stressful situations.
- Strong organisational, logistical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Dynamic, energetic, and self-motivated, with a proactive approach to leadership and service delivery.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with learners, parents and staff.
Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The Aftercare Manager is responsible for the daily operations of a busy facility. This includes engagement with various stakeholders to ensure the highest standards of care and efficiency.
Stakeholder Relations:
- Maintain effective communication with parents, school staff and aftercare staff, addressing issues professionally and confidentially.
Logistics and Safety:
- Communicate daily with drivers and staff to ensure all lifts and schedules for sport and extra murals are managed accurately, efficiently and safely.
- Oversee vehicle maintenance as well as road worthy, services, etc.
Academic Support:
- Engage with homework staff and grade heads to ensure homework is completed accurately and effectively.
Financial Management:
- Plan and manage the Aftercare budget.
- Maintain accurate records whilst liaising with the Bursar’s office and Business Manager.
Environment and Culture:
- Encourage and maintain an environment based on respect amongst staff, boys and parents, where boys can feel safe at all times.
