SUMMARY

An international freight forwarder seeks an experienced Air Import Controller in Cape Town, with a strong background in airfreight imports and client-focused shipment coordination.

Please note: Candidates from a predominantly courier or express parcel background will not be considered. A proven track record within the freight forwarding industry is essential. Key Responsibilities Manage end-to-end air import shipments and cross-trade movements. Proactively communicate with clients regarding shipment status, delays, and solutions. Coordinate with suppliers, carriers, agents, and internal departments to ensure smooth cargo movement. Track and monitor shipments from collection through to final delivery. Resolve client queries, shipment exceptions, and operational challenges efficiently. Monitor and manage customer KPIs and service performance. Support pricing, invoicing, and cost control processes. Assist with implementation and onboarding of new accounts. Provide after-hours support for urgent or critical shipments when required. Maintain accurate records and administration within the company operating systems. Minimum Requirements 3 to 5 years experience as an Air Import Controller within a freight forwarding environment. Strong understanding of international airfreight import processes. Experience dealing directly with clients, airlines, agents, and service providers. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Strong administrative and organisational abilities. Ability to work independently and under pressure. Sound commercial awareness and understanding of shipment profitability. Fluent in English (written and spoken). Preferred Background Freight forwarding and logistics industry experience. Exposure to international import operations and cross-trade shipments. Experience managing key accounts and customer service KPIs.
