Sales Consultant – Guarding/ Security Services

Purpose of the Role

The Sales Consultant is responsible for driving new business growth through proactive and strategic sales initiatives within an assigned territory. The role focuses on identifying opportunities, building strong client relationships, achieving sales targets, and converting prospects into long‑term clients through effective territory and pipeline management.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development and Sales

Promote and sell a comprehensive range of guarding and security services within the allocated territory. Achieve and exceed agreed sales targets in a competitive market. Conduct daily cold calling, door‑to‑door and street‑to‑street prospecting. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, tenders, and special projects. Prepare, present, negotiate, and close proposals and quotations with prospective and existing clients.

Territory Management

Take full ownership of the assigned sales territory. Conduct an annual territory analysis including key industries, business types, competitors, opportunities, and market share. Compile and implement a Territory Management Plan aimed at achieving and exceeding sales targets. Plan, manage, and monitor sales activation and visibility initiatives within the territory.

Client Engagement and Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong professional relationships with clients and potential clients. Schedule and attend meetings to present service offerings and conduct site visits and risk assessments. Ensure proposals and quotations are submitted within 24 hours of client meetings. Follow up on all submitted proposals and quotations to drive conversion. Support contract handover and client onboarding by coordinating with operational teams.

Reporting and Administration

Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records on CRM systems, capturing all sales activities including calls, meetings, site visits, quotations, proposals, and contracts. Complete daily territory and time management plans. Submit detailed weekly sales activity reports. Action client and internal correspondence within 24 hours. Submit concluded contracts with all required documentation for implementation.

Marketing and Market Presence

Participate in agreed territory visibility initiatives and promotional activities. Plan and attend relevant events such as conventions and fairs where required. Monitor community and social media platforms within the territory to promote services and identify business opportunities. Manage territory communication groups by sharing relevant marketing material and responding to enquiries.

Compliance and Professional Conduct

Comply with all organisational policies, procedures, codes of conduct, and ethical standards. Stay informed on industry trends, technology advancements, and best practices. Attend internal meetings, training sessions, and company events when required. Carry out any reasonable additional tasks related to the role as requested by management.

Key Performance Indicators

Achievement of monthly and annual sales targets, territory growth, number of new client meetings, quotations submitted, conversion rates, prospecting activity levels, and participation in territory initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Qualifications

No formal qualification required.

Skills and Competencies

Strong sales, negotiation, and closing skills. Excellent communication and presentation abilities. Proven ability to manage and grow a sales territory. High level of customer focus with strong relationship‑building skills. Effective planning, organisational, and time management skills. Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and CRM systems. Ability to read, write, and speak English and Afrikaans.

Additional Requirements

South African citizen. Valid driver’s licence. Own reliable vehicle. Clear criminal record. Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Sales / Bid Manager. No direct reports.
