THE ROLE

We are looking for a SAIPA-qualified Senior Accountant to own the full accounting function for a portfolio of US-based clients. This is not a data-entry role — it requires someone who takes initiative, thinks critically about the numbers, and can run an organized, efficient close process without being told what to do each day.

You will work directly with F9's Managing Partner, with visibility into real business financials across multiple industries. As our client base grows, so does the opportunity for the right person.

This role is right for you if

• You have run full-cycle accounting for multiple clients at once and know how to prioritize.

• You find errors in books before anyone asks you to look.

• You build systems and checklists because you know that's how nothing falls through the cracks.

• You communicate clearly when something is wrong — you don't wait and hope it resolves itself.

• You're looking for a long-term engagement where your contribution is visible and valued.

  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Experience building close checklists and process documentation from scratch
  • Strong written English — clear, professional communication
  • Prior experience in a US-facing or international client accounting role
  • Reliable internet and a dedicated, distraction-free workspace
  • Available for overlap with US Eastern time zone (afternoons SAST)

WHO WILL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE

▸Self-starter

You don't need a task list handed to you each morning. You know what needs to be done and you do it.

▸Ownership mindset

When a client's books have a problem, it's your problem to fix — not someone else's to find.

▸Communicates early

When something is off or a deadline is at risk, you say so immediately — not after the fact.

▸Detail without perfectionism

You care deeply about accuracy but you also know how to prioritize and keep things moving.

▸Stable and committed

You're looking for a long-term home, not a stepping stone. You want to grow with the work, not past it.

▸Tech-comfortable

New software doesn't intimidate you. You figure it out, and you look for tools that make you faster.

We are a small, focused firm. What we offer is not a large corporate structure — it is meaningful work, direct visibility to leadership, and a genuine opportunity to grow.

  • Work directly with the Managing Partner — your contributions are seen and recognized
  • Exposure to a range of US-based industries and business models
  • Stable, long-term engagement with room to grow as the firm grows
  • Flexible remote schedule with clear expectations — no micromanagement
  • Compensation commensurate with SAIPA qualification and relevant experience
  • Opportunity to build and own systems, not just execute someone else's

Full-Cycle Client Accounting

  • Own end-to-end accounting for a portfolio of US-based clients across professional services, SaaS, and nonprofit sectors
  • Execute complete month-end close processes including journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortization, and deferred revenue recognition
  • Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly — every account ties to a supporting schedule before close
  • Prepare accurate, timely financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) ready for CFO review
  • Manage accounts receivable and accounts payable processes including aging reviews and vendor accruals
  • Process and post payroll journal entries; reconcile payroll liability accounts to provider reports

Books Clean-Up & Process Improvement

  • Assess and clean up existing client books — identify misclassifications, reconciliation gaps, and historical errors
  • Recommend and implement improvements to chart of accounts, coding practices, and reporting structure
  • Build and maintain close checklists, reconciliation schedules, and process documentation for each client
  • Establish and enforce internal controls appropriate to each client's size and complexity
  • Identify process inefficiencies and proactively propose solutions — don't wait to be asked

Organization & Multi-Client Management

  • Manage workload across multiple clients with overlapping monthly deadlines without dropping tasks
  • Maintain a personal task and close calendar; flag potential conflicts or capacity issues early
  • Deliver work on time and communicate proactively if timelines are at risk — no surprises

Communication & Escalation

  • Write clear, professional emails to communicate findings, questions, and status updates
  • Escalate issues and concerns to the Managing Partner with context and a proposed path forward — not just the problem
  • Participate in periodic video calls with the F9 team; communicate findings confidently and clearly
  • Document open items with enough detail that anyone can pick them up and act on them

Required

  • SAIPA qualified — PA(SA) designation required
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience
  • Experience managing accounting for multiple clients simultaneously
  • Full-cycle accounting competency: GL, AR, AP, payroll, close
  • Revenue recognition experience: deferred revenue, accruals, WIP

Nice to Have

  • Experience with SaaS, professional services, or nonprofit clients
  • Familiarity with Ramp or similar expense management platforms
  • Comfortable learning and adopting new software tools quickly
  • Experience using AI tools to improve workflow or research
  • Advanced Excel skills — pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliation models

Candidates who progress to interview will complete a technical assessment covering trial balance review, balance sheet reconciliations, and a month-end close exercise. This is by design — we want to see how you work, not just what you say.

To apply, please send the following to ***email_hidden***:

• Your CV (PDF preferred)

• A brief note — in your own words — describing your experience managing multiple client

accounts and how you stay organized across competing deadlines.

• Your SAIPA membership status and year of qualification.

Applications without a personal note will not be considered.
