About The Role

Versus Socks is the leader in South Africa’s performance sock category, with a clear ambition to become the world champion in performance socks. We are busy hiring future world champs to help us build.

We are looking for a Marketing Coordinator who is passionate about marketing, obsessed with social media, and genuinely connected to the world of performance and active lifestyle brands. You will report directly to the Marketing Manager and take real ownership across social media, community management, athlete communications, shoot coordination, and event support.

This is a hands-on role that requires someone who is close to the brand, the team, the product, and the community. The role is based in Stellenbosch, with four days per week in office and one remote day per week. You will also be expected to attend selected shoots, events, activations, community runs, and brand moments when required.

We want someone who is highly organised, takes initiative, and gets things done without needing to be followed up. This is not just a social media posting role. We need someone with real energy, a genuine passion for sport, and a strong feel for community. Someone who understands the world of running, cycling, gym, and active lifestyle, and who genuinely cares about the people, culture, and moments that build a brand.

Responsibilities

Social Media and Community Management

  • Manage all community interactions across Instagram, LinkedIn, Strava, and Facebook
  • Respond to comments, DMs, tags, and mentions promptly and in brand voice
  • Build genuine relationships with followers, customers, and brand advocates
  • Post across all platforms according to the content calendar
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to plan monthly content calendars
  • Ensure brand tone and voice is consistent across all channels
  • Support community communication across WhatsApp groups, run clubs, event channels, and other relevant community platforms where needed

Athlete and Influencer Communications

  • Own all communications with Versus athletes and brand partners
  • Coordinate influencer collaborations and manage deliverables end to end
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with athletes and content creators

Shoot and Production Coordination

  • Plan and coordinate photo and video shoots from brief to execution
  • Brief photographers and videographers with clear, detailed direction
  • Attend shoots and activations to oversee delivery and capture behind-the-scenes content
  • Manage shoot timelines, logistics, and creative asset handover
  • Liaise with the distribution centre to ensure the right stock is available for shoots and marketing needs

Event Support and Coordination

  • Support the planning and on-the-ground coordination of Versus events including Out & Back and the Versus Grand Prix
  • Liaise with suppliers, partners, and athletes around event logistics and communications
  • Assist with pre-event content planning and post-event content rollout
  • Attend selected events, activations, community runs, and shoots to support content, communication, and on-the-ground execution

Performance Tracking

  • Monitor and analyse social media performance across all platforms
  • Provide monthly reports with clear takeaways and recommendations for improvement

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means our social platforms are active and consistent, our community feels seen, DMs and comments are handled properly, athletes and influencers are communicated with clearly, shoots are well coordinated, event content is planned ahead, and the Marketing Manager can trust that key moving parts are under control.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a marketing or social media role
  • A genuine passion for marketing, social media, and performance or lifestyle brands
  • High energy, positive attitude, and a genuine passion for sport, active lifestyle, and community-led brands
  • Authentic connection to the running, cycling, gym, or broader performance community
  • Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Proven ability to take initiative and work with a high level of responsibility and independence
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles and brand positioning
  • In-depth knowledge of Instagram and content best practices
  • Comfortable briefing and managing creative suppliers including photographers and videographers
  • Ability to analyse social media data and translate it into clear recommendations
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where priorities can shift quickly
  • Must be based in or able to reliably commute to Stellenbosch for four in-office days per week
  • Must have a valid driver’s licence
  • Willingness to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when needed

Bonus: Some experience in basic content creation, whether on a phone or camera, is a plus but not a requirement.
