Junior HR / Industrial Relations Officer

We provide comprehensive workforce management solutions, including recruitment, payroll administration, industrial relations, compliance, driver management and HR consulting to nationally recognised clients.

We are looking for a motivated Junior HR/IR Officer to join our growing team.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of employees.
  • Draft employment contracts and employment documentation.
  • Maintain employee personnel files and HR records.
  • Conduct employee inductions.
  • Assist with performance management processes.
  • Process appointments, transfers and terminations.
  • Leave administration.
  • Maintain HR databases and employee records.
  • Prepare HR reports.

Industrial Relations

  • Assist with disciplinary investigations.
  • Draft warnings, notices and charge sheets.
  • Attend and chair disciplinary hearings (where appropriate).
  • Handle grievance procedures.
  • Advise management on labour legislation.
  • Assist with retrenchment consultations.
  • Prepare documentation for CCMA and Bargaining Council matters.
  • Ensure compliance with the Labour Relations Act, BCEA, Employment Equity Act and other labour legislation.

Client Support

  • Provide HR support to allocated clients.
  • Visit client sites when required.
  • Build professional relationships with clients.
  • Assist clients with HR and IR queries.
  • Ensure service delivery in accordance with Service Level Agreements.

Payroll & Administration

  • Collect payroll input.
  • Verify attendance registers.
  • Capture leave and employee changes.
  • Support monthly payroll administration.
  • Maintain confidential employee information.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Labour Relations Act
    • Basic Conditions of Employment Act
    • Employment Equity Act
    • Skills Development Act
    • Occupational Health and Safety Act
    • POPIA
    • Bargaining Council Agreements (where applicable)
  • Diploma or Degree in Human Resources, Labour Relations or Industrial Psychology.
  • 1–3 years' HR and/or Industrial Relations experience.
  • Knowledge of South African labour legislation.
  • Valid driver's licence.
  • Own reliable transport (essential).
  • Computer literate (MS Office).
  • Excellent communication and administration skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites when required.

Advantageous

  • Experience within the transport, logistics or labour outsourcing industry.
  • Exposure to payroll administration.
  • Experience with disciplinary hearings.
  • CCMA and Bargaining Council exposure.
  • Experience working with multiple client portfolios.
  • Knowledge of BCEA, LRA, EEA and OHS legislation.
