National Asphalt is seeking a competent Artisan Diesel Mechanic at Born Accord to effectively inspect, service and repair plant and equipment that is owned, leased or hired by the Company. The incumbent will be required to perform minor and major repairs on plants and conduct regular preventative maintenance service on plants. Although the role is based at Bon Accord site, the incumbent must be willing to travel to several sites in the Inland region to provide maintenance support as and when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To perform minor and major repairs on plants.
  • Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts, and other mechanical or electrical equipment’s.
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance service on plants.
  • Perform regular diagnostic on the plant.
  • Maintain accurate record of each repair performed on plants.
  • Routine maintenance, such as changing oil, checking batteries completed.
  • Report any major maintenance repairs as per the required procedures.
  • Potential health and safety risks must be reported to management.
  • All incidents, including near misses must be reported to management
  • Adhere to health and safety requirements as per legislation and in accordance with National Asphalt HSE policy.
  • Monitor and assess hazardous and unsafe situations on-site or in a working environment.
  • Maintaining detailed records of service and maintenance job cards schedules
  • Act in a customer centric manner that is in line with the company’s values
  • Meet and exceed the requirements of internal and external customers

QUALIFYING CRITERIA

  • Red Seal (Trade Tested: Millwright, Artisan or Electrician: preferably expertise in at least two trades)
  • At least 3 –4 years’ experience in the maintenance or production environment
  • Hands-on working experience in a maintenance or manufacturing environment is essential
  • Experience in hydraulic & Pneumatic system design and maintenance advantageous
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must be fully Computer literate (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook)
  • Must have strong proven administrative skills
  • Knowledgeable on the Occupational Health & Safety Act
  • Communication skills- both written and verbal
  • Technical problem-solving ability
