POSITION INFO
Job purpose: The Operations Manager is responsible for ensuring seamless execution of inbound and outbound logistics processes, maintaining strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), contractual obligations and Service Level Agreements (SLAs). The role oversees freight handling, receiving, container offloading, product consolidation, reporting, workforce planning, customer service, cost control, compliance and continuous operational improvement. Responsibilities: Ensure all SOPs are documented, communicated, maintained and enforced. Prepare inbound freight documentation at least five working days before stock arrives. Ensure container offloading complies with SLAs and customer contracts. Verify freight condition, quantity and documentation before GRV processing. Plan and execute product consolidation and inbound processing within 24 hours. Prevent demurrage through timely offloading of imports and local transport. Manage warehouse space efficiently and minimise double handling. Resolve stock discrepancies, damages and operational queries within required timelines. Ensure accurate picking, labelling, routing and POD management. Generate operational reports and review Work-in-Progress daily. Plan outbound linehaul cost-effectively and chair daily operations meetings. Maintain customer communication and oversee claims handling. Monitor wages, overtime, assets, equipment inspections and housekeeping. Plan staffing, manage performance, training and discipline. Ensure compliance with legal, safety and company standards. Key requirements: - Tertiary qualification in Operations Management/ Business Management/ Logistics. - 5+ years' experience in Logistics/ Transport / Warehousing Industry with three out of the five years in a managerial role. - Experienced overseeing freight handling, container offloading, product consolidation, and operational reporting, while driving cost efficiency, workforce planning, and compliance with legal and industry standards. - Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with the ability to prepare reports, analyse data, and manage documentation using Word, Excel, and Outlook. - Competence in KPI tracking tools, enabling accurate monitoring of operational performance and timely corrective action.
