Hospitality Hire is recruiting for an experienced
Wine Steward on behalf of a leading
4-star hotel in Bantry Bay, Cape Town.
This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate wine professional who enjoys creating memorable guest experiences through exceptional wine service and expert recommendations. We are looking for a knowledgeable and engaging individual who understands wine, food pairings, and luxury hospitality while delivering personalised service in a busy hotel restaurant environment.
POSITION INFO
Minimum Requirements Grade 12 (Matric) WSET Level 2, Cape Wine Academy qualification or equivalent wine qualification preferred Minimum 2 years' experience as a Wine Steward, Sommelier or senior Food & Beverage professional within a 4 or 5-star hotel or upscale restaurant Strong knowledge of South African and international wines, spirits and beverage trends Experience with wine service, cellar management and stock control Excellent food and wine pairing knowledge Strong communication and upselling skills Well-presented with a professional and guest-focused approach Ability to work evenings, weekends and public holidays Valid South African ID or valid work permit Key Responsibilities Deliver professional wine service to guests in accordance with luxury hospitality standards Recommend wines and beverage pairings to complement menu selections Maintain and manage the wine cellar, ensuring correct storage and stock rotation Monitor wine inventory, conduct stock counts and assist with ordering Ensure all wines are served at the correct temperature using appropriate glassware Train and support Food & Beverage team members on wine knowledge and service standards Drive wine sales through knowledgeable recommendations and upselling Assist with wine tastings, special events and promotional activities Maintain high standards of cleanliness and presentation within the wine cellar and service areas Ensure compliance with licensing, health and safety, and responsible alcohol service regulations What We're Looking For We are looking for a hospitality professional who is passionate about wine and exceptional service.
