Introduction

Picup, a last-mile delivery and technology-focused company, powered by a scalable crowd-sourced driver network, seeks a highly-organised Infield Supervisor with excellent communication skills to be responsible for driver performance, driver branding, driver supply and client satisfaction relating to our delivery as a service. Picup is looking for an experienced Team Lead: Database Engineers to drive the performance, reliability, and scalability of our database environments while mentoring a team of skilled engineers.

• Lead and mentor a team of Database Engineers.
• Oversee database administration, maintenance, upgrades, backups, and security.
• Design and implement scalable database solutions.
• Optimise database performance through query tuning and troubleshooting.
• Manage replication, clustering, high availability, and disaster recovery.
• Collaborate with developers and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, high-performing systems.
• Drive best practices, automation, and continuous improvement across the database environment.

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5 years' experience in Database Administration or Database Engineering.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, MS SQL, or similar relational databases.
• Expertise in query optimisation, performance tuning, and SQL scripting.
• Experience with replication, clustering, backups, and disaster recovery.
• Knowledge of Linux environments and scripting (Bash/Python advantageous).
• Previous experience leading technical teams in an Agile environment.
