Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Specialist
Reporting to: Group SHE Manager
Job Purpose
Fidelity Services Group is seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Specialist to support and drive the Group's sustainability strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring environmental performance, ensuring environmental compliance, coordinating sustainability initiatives, analysing ESG data, and supporting the Group's commitment to responsible and sustainable business practices.
Minimum Requirements
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Sustainability Management, Natural Sciences, or a related field.
- Relevant ESG, Sustainability or Environmental Management certification will be advantageous.
- Project Management qualification will be advantageous.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an Environmental Management, Sustainability or ESG-related role.
- Experience in environmental compliance and sustainability reporting.
- Experience in data collection, analysis and reporting.
- Experience managing environmental programmes and initiatives.
- Working knowledge of South African environmental legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience in stakeholder and supplier engagement will be advantageous.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental Management & Sustainability
- Monitor, analyse and report on electricity, water and generator fuel consumption across the Group.
- Identify opportunities to improve resource efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Support renewable energy and sustainability initiatives, including solar projects.
- Collect and analyse environmental data to support sustainability strategies and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Assist with the implementation of environmental management programmes.
- Promote environmentally responsible business practices across the Group.
ESG Reporting & Performance Monitoring
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual ESG reports.
- Monitor ESG performance indicators and sustainability targets.
- Assist with ESG disclosures and reporting requirements.
- Develop and maintain environmental dashboards and reporting tools.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of ESG data.
- Conduct trend analysis and recommend sustainability improvements.
Waste Management
- Develop and implement waste management programmes.
- Drive recycling and waste diversion initiatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve waste management processes.
- Manage relationships with waste management service providers.
- Monitor and report on waste volumes, recycling statistics and environmental performance.
Environmental Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable environmental legislation, including the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
- Maintain Environmental Risk Registers and Environmental Aspects & Impacts Registers.
- Conduct environmental assessments and branch evaluations.
- Identify environmental risks and recommend mitigation measures.
- Support internal and external environmental audits.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Engage with suppliers, contractors and service providers on ESG-related matters.
- Promote collaboration and continuous environmental improvement.
- Support sustainable procurement initiatives.
- Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
Training & Awareness
- Develop and deliver environmental awareness and sustainability training.
- Promote ESG awareness across the business.
- Support initiatives that encourage sustainable workplace practices.
Site Assessments
- Conduct regular branch visits and environmental assessments.
- Evaluate branch compliance with environmental standards.
- Recommend corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor implementation of agreed action plans.
