Senior Quantity Surveyor - Mining Sector

Our client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to take ownership of commercial and contractual management across major mining projects. Based at the Pretoria Head Office, this position requires a confident professional who can operate at both strategic and operational level while ensuring strong financial governance across all project phases.

Responsibilities

• Manage end-to-end quantity surveying duties across mining projects.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
• Administer contracts and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Evaluate contractor claims, variations, and payment applications.
• Lead procurement processes and tender evaluations.
• Provide commercial input to project planning and execution strategies.
• Ensure effective cost control and risk mitigation throughout project lifecycle.

Requirements

• BSc Quantity Surveying degree with Honours.
• Minimum 8 years’ relevant post-qualification experience.
• Strong mining industry experience is essential.
• Solid understanding of construction contracts and dispute resolution.
• Proven ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
• Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel locally and across Africa as required.

Package

• Basic salary R45 000 – R55 000 per month, negotiable based on experience.
• SACQSP annual fees covered by employer.
• Additional professional memberships considered where relevant.
• 20 days annual leave (including builders’ break).
