Lead the manufacturing production lines and ensure the efficient delivery of products in line with company regulations.
POSITION INFO
Role ideal for hands-on leaders who thrive in a fast-paced production environment and are passionate about operational excellence, continuous improvement and building high-performing teams. Position based in the Southern Suburbs of Cape Town. Qualifications: Bachelor''s degree in industrial engineering or a related field Post-grad production management or leadership qualifications will be to your advantage Experience: 5-8 years experience in a manufacturing environment Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or management role Experience in packaging, plastics or FMCG manufacturing will be advantageous Key Skills & Competencies: Technical Skills: Polymer production knowledge Line setup and process control Quality management and root-cause analysis Capacity planning capabilities Leadership Skills: Shift leadership and communication Union engagement and conflict resolution Disciplinary management Behavioural Attributes: Ownership, decisiveness, resilience, and tenacity Strong leadership and team management capability Production planning and scheduling expertise Solid understanding of quality and manufacturing systems Experience with continuous improvement methodologies Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Ability to manage costs and work within budget constraints Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills Key Roles and Responsibilities: Plan, manage and oversee all production activities to meet delivery, quality and cost targets Manage production line in line with Business process approach to cross-functional delivery, including setup, startup checks, and in-process control Lead and develop production teams, driving a strong culture aligned to company values Ensure, maintain a green operational scoreboard Drive compliance with the company Management System, ensuring strong audit outcomes Manage and resolve customer complaints, ensuring effective corrective actions are implemented Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives in line with operational plans Monitor and control material usage to ensure variances remain within budget Optimise labour utilisation and manage workforce productivity in line with budget Lead and coach teams in a unionized MEIBC Plastics Agreement environment Ensure discipline, performance, and adherence to SOPs Identify operational, safety and reputational risks early and mitigate Plan capacity and headcount across permanent and flexible labour pools Apply extreme ownership leadership principles in daily operations Oversee performance management processes, including regular employee reviews Ensure training and development plans are executed and team competency is maintained in line with skills matrix requirements.
