JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Foreman is responsible for the planning, execution, control, and performance of all logistics operations.
The role ensures that deliveries are completed on time, loads are prepared in advance, vehicles and equipment are compliant, PODs are controlled, and logistics costs and overtime are actively managed. The Logistics Supervisor is the single point of accountability for logistics performance
Key Responsibilities
1. Delivery Planning & Control
- Plan and coordinate daily and weekly delivery schedules
- Ensure all delivery loads are prepared and loaded the previous working day
- Consolidate delivery orders where possible to optimize transport costs and minimize overtime.
- Ensure all deliveries and collections are completed on time (OTIF)
- Investigate delivery failures, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
2. Loading, Dispatch & POD Oversight
- Oversee the safe and accurate loading of trucks and company vehicles in accordance with load requirements and safety standards.
- Ensure correct order, invoice, quantities, and delivery address
- Ensure no vehicle is dispatched without correct documentation
- Monitor POD (Proof of Delivery) collection, submission, and follow up on all outstanding PODs to ensure timely closure.
- Ensure dispatch processes are followed consistently to prevent delivery errors and delays.
3. Supervision & People Management
- Allocate and manage daily tasks for the Logistics Administrator and Supervisor to ensure operational requirements are met.
- Monitor performance and ensure role-specific checklists and procedures are completed accurately and consistently.
- Provide guidance and support to team members while addressing performance concerns and escalating issues when required
- Ensure accountability and compliance with logistics processes and company standards.
4. Fleet, Freight & Equipment Control
- Ensure all vehicles remain compliant, safe, and roadworthy.
- Monitor and ensure vehicle and forklift inspection checklists are completed accurately on a daily basis
- Ensure services, licences, and maintenance are up to date
- Prevent use of unsafe or non-compliant equipment
- Report and coordinate corrective actions for any identified fleet or equipment issues
5. Cost Control, KPIs & Reporting
- Monitor and control fuel usage, delivery costs, and overtime to ensure operational efficiency and cost management
- Chair weekly KPI review meetings
- Identify operational risks and escalate concerns, corrective actions, and improvement opportunities to management.
- Facilitate and chair weekly KPI review meetings to discuss performance, challenges, and action plans
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve service levels and reduce logistics costs

Additional Duties
- Reporting, special assignments or projects as needed and assigned.
- Flexible working hours may be required from time to time
Required Skills
- Highly organized-demonstrates strong administrative skills
- Syspro experience a strong recommendation
- 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with some exposure to operations administration
- Intermediate computer skills including Microsoft Office
- Driver’s licence and own transport
Qualifications
- Minimum matric pass with mathematics
- Certificate course in Logistics, Technical, Operations or Supply Chain Management is an added advantage
