National Bioproducts Institute NPC has a vacancy for the role of Process Technician. The successful incumbent will be required to:

Assist with the production of Polygam, Bioplasma, Albumin, Intragam and Hyperimmune Immunoglobulins that meet quality specifications and are GMP compliant.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 with minimum D mark in English and minimum D mark in math, science, biology or EMS.

Post Basic Pharmacy Assistant Qualification (preferred)

1 – 2 years’ experience in a pharmaceutical, chemical, food or biotechnology manufacturing or laboratory environment

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with processing Process II Paste and V Paste

  • Works with team members to prepare equipment by cleaning and sterilising as required
  • Take sample for QC/QA as per protocol

Assist with completion of documentation

  • Works with team members to complete written documentation as required by protocols & SOP’s

Maintain Equipment

  • Monitor equipment performance
  • Assist with calibrating equipment
  • Works with team members to conduct first –line maintenance of equipment

Comply with Good Manufacturing Procedures

  • Works with team members to execute SOPs and protocols in utilizing the techniques of precipitation, centrifugation, inactivation, fractionation, filtration, dissolution, freeze-drying and ultra-filtration
  • Use appropriate packaging for storage of in-process materials
  • Dispose of waste products according to SOP’s
  • Participates in audits of manufacturing area.
  • Works within the team to assess and recommend methods for improving quality
  • Ensure manufacturing area is clean and tidy
  • Attend training courses as required

Comply with the OHS act

  • Works in a safe manner under the indirect supervision of team members
  • Wear appropriate PPE
  • Act as Safety Rep, Evacuation Team Leader or First-Aider as required
