MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

A leading manufacturing organisation within the building materials sector is seeking an experienced Instrumentation Technician to join their engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for fault finding on control systems, as well as the maintenance, calibration, and optimisation of instrumentation and automation systems within a production environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on all instrumentation, process control, and automation systems
  • Conduct fault finding on control systems and instrumentation equipment
  • Optimise control systems to improve production processes and efficiency
  • Provide technical support to production teams on electrical and instrumentation issues
  • Execute both planned and unplanned maintenance on plant equipment
  • Ensure all process control software is backed up and maintained according to standards
  • Assist with panel building and electrical fault finding
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant performance
  • Address product quality issues related to process lines
  • Manage critical spares for instrumentation and electrical equipment
  • Supervise and guide subordinates, ensuring quality and timely completion of work

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Matric
  • Qualified in an instrumentation-related trade (T2 or N5 minimum)
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an Instrumentation Technician or similar technical role
  • Strong knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems
  • Experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation environments

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • PLC programming and troubleshooting
  • SCADA system knowledge
  • Electrical fault finding up to 525V
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation systems

REMUNERATION & BENEFITS

  • Salary: R40,000 per month
