Role Purpose
The Business Development Manager (BDM) identifies quality leads and converts them into successful product, service, and solution opportunities.
To achieve consistent growth in the company’s customer base and sales figures, the BDM is required to:
- Achieve set sales and revenue targets.
- Manage and grow the allocated market territory.
- Build strong networks and long-term relationships with prospective clients.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Business Development Generate new business opportunities and qualified leads. Understand client business needs and develop solutions that meet stakeholder expectations. Present business and technical solutions that demonstrate value and return on investment. Secure new business while maintaining excellent after-sales customer care. Build strong relationships with Principal Vendors and lead pricing and procurement negotiations. Sales Management Achieve annual sales and revenue targets. Drive demand-generation activities for assigned products, services, and solutions. Convert opportunities into successful sales and manage invoicing, billing, and customer satisfaction. Share relevant thought leadership and marketing material with customers. Support pricing strategies during bids, proposals, and quotations. Maintain and report on the sales pipeline, new business opportunities, and performance against targets. Develop new customer relationships through collaborative sales initiatives. Maximise opportunities across industries. Build and maintain productive relationships with key decision-makers within customer accounts. Maintain a strong understanding of business strategy, growth plans, revenue drivers, and business risks. Collaborate with Executive and Senior Leadership to identify, develop, and enhance business solutions. Identify new market opportunities and drive collaboration, cross-selling, and upselling across business units. Governance, Risk & Business Continuity Stay informed of industry trends and operational innovations. Monitor business risks and changing stakeholder requirements. Lead improvement initiatives that increase profitability or reduce operational risk. Maintain the highest ethical and governance standards. External Relationship Management Manage relationships with service providers, vendors, and partners to ensure quality service delivery. Monitor consultant performance and recommend corrective action where required. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Qualifications & Experience Business Management, Financial Management, or equivalent NQF Level 7 qualification. Minimum of 5 years' sales experience. Working knowledge of financing models. Skills & Attributes Strong business acumen. Knowledge of corporate governance and auditing processes. Solution sales methodologies with excellent probing, listening, presentation, questioning, and negotiation skills. Relevant industry knowledge. Entrepreneurial mindset. Leadership and assertiveness.
