MRI Software is seeking an experienced and technically strong Business Intelligence Manager to join our Business Intelligence & Data Operations team in South Africa. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines the delivery of high-quality business intelligence solutions with the day-to-day management, coaching, and development of a team of Business Intelligence Analysts.

As the senior Business Intelligence leader in the South Africa region, you will play a key role in ensuring the team delivers accurate, scalable, and business-ready reporting across MRI’s enterprise data landscape. You will be responsible for maintaining high standards of quality, supporting the growth of your team, and building strong partnerships with stakeholders across the organisation.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical delivery with people leadership and is equally comfortable designing Power BI solutions, mentoring analysts, and driving best practices across reporting, data governance, and stakeholder engagement.

We understand the need to provide a flexible working environment partnered with team collaboration and socialisation . Therefore, we operate a hybrid working model with 3 days of working from home per week. This role is based in the Cape Town office.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards that meet business requirements and quality standards.

  • Contribute to the development and ongoing enhancement of the organisation's unified data model and semantic layer within Microsoft Fabric.

  • Review, validate, and provide quality assurance on analyst deliverables before stakeholder distribution.

  • Translate business requirements into effective reporting and analytics solutions using best practices in data modelling, DAX, and report design.

  • Monitor and optimise the performance of reports, dashboards, and data models.

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to a team of Business Intelligence Analysts.

  • Support team development through regular feedback, mentoring, performance coaching, and knowledge sharing.

  • Establish and reinforce standards for report design, data governance, documentation, and stakeholder communication.

  • Collaborate with the Senior Director on team planning, prioritisation, resource allocation, and delivery management.

  • Partner with stakeholders across the business to understand reporting requirements and deliver actionable insights.

  • Communicate timelines, project updates, findings, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Represent the Business Intelligence team in cross-functional initiatives and strategic projects.

  • Ensure all reporting and analytics outputs align with established governance standards and data management practices.

  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation for reports, metrics, business logic, and data definitions.

  • Identify and address recurring data quality or process issues that impact reporting accuracy and effectiveness.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, or a related field.

  • Advanced Power BI expertise, including data modelling, DAX, report development, and performance optimisation.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or managing analysts or technical team members.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience gathering requirements and presenting insights to business audiences.

  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality outputs.

  • Experience working with Microsoft Fabric, including lakehouses, pipelines, and semantic models, is highly desirable.

  • Experience working with Salesforce or similar CRM platforms as a reporting source is advantageous.

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
