An exciting opportunity exists for an Electrician at National Brands Limited (NBL) Durban Tea Factory. The role will report directly to the Engineering Foreman and be responsible to carry out repairs and maintenance on a variety of high-speed packaging machines, processes and systems.

Job Specification

Key Performance Areas

  • To carry out repairs and maintenance on a variety of high-speed packaging machines, processes and systems.
  • Ensure machine availability to meet production targets.
  • Execution of minor projects and machine modifications.
  • Ensure machinery is set up as per machine manufactures specifications.
  • Ensure machine safety with respect to safety switches and guarding is at all times functional and in good condition.
  • Ensure adherence to the company lockout and tag out procedure.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, machine downtimes, and artisan performance, reporting regularly to the Maintenance Manager or Engineering Foreman.

Minimum Requirements

Experience

  • Have a minimum of 3-5 years of solid experience in a similar role within the FMCG environment
  • Experience in fault finding and repair of complex electrical systems (MV and LV) including a sound knowledge of PLC’S, DC and AC drives

Qualifications

  • Must be a qualified electrician with a recognized trade test (red seal)
  • Must have a minimum theoretical qualification of N4

Additional Requirements

  • Programming and fault-finding techniques of plc’s would be considered highly advantageous
  • Experience in fault finding and operating standby generations
  • Must have a reasonable understanding of Servo systems
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex electrical drawings
  • Above-average fault-finding techniques
  • Must be committed to continuous improvement
  • A good level of knowledge and understanding of electronic control systems would also be considered highly advantageous
  • Knowledge of HACCP, QMS, and GMP is a prerequisite
  • Must be willing to work overtime, standby, and night shift if and when necessary
