Commercial Manager (Operations) - Durban

We’re looking for a commercially sharp Commercial Manager (Operations) with strong costing, SAP, and systems capability to join a fast-paced feed manufacturing environment in Westville, Durban. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys getting into the detail of operations, partnering closely with production teams, and driving real commercial impact through insight, analysis, and control.

• Product Costing & Margin Control
  • Maintain and review standard costing models
  • Analyse actual vs standard cost variances and drive corrective actions
  • Partner with operations and procurement to ensure costing accuracy
  • Oversee quarterly routing and standard cost updates
• Performance & Management Reporting
  • Deliver daily, weekly, and monthly operational KPI reporting
  • Provide meaningful commentary on financial performance
  • Support data-driven decision-making across the mill operations
• Budgeting & Forecasting
  • Drive annual budgets and quarterly forecasts
  • Support ROI assessments for Capex decisions
  • Ensure alignment with business strategy and economic indicators
• Cost Control & Capex
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and inefficiencies
  • Own Capex motivation, approval support, and post-implementation reviews
  • Ensure governance and compliance across Capex processes
• Stock, Systems & Governance
  • Investigate stock variances and strengthen controls
  • Ensure data integrity across systems (SAP and reporting tools)
  • Uphold ethical and governance standards
• Team Leadership
  • Lead, develop, and coach a high-performing finance team
  • Drive performance management, training, and succession planning
  • Foster collaboration across multidisciplinary teams

• CA(SA) or CIMA preferred (BCom with strong relevant experience will also be considered)
• 4-5 years’ management accounting experience
• Strong exposure to commercial costing and margin analysis
• Experience in a manufacturing or processing environment
• SAP experience and strong systems capability (non-negotiable advantage)
• Some people management exposure
