SUMMARY

Our client in the logistics and transport industry is looking to employ a Payroll and Driver Performance Controller to join their team based in Amanzimtoti KwaZulu - Natal.

Purpose of this role

To manage and control driver payroll and earnings, ensuring all payments are accurate, performance-based, compliant with Bargaining Council regulations, and aligned to actual operational output.

POSITION INFO

Requirements: 3-5 years experience in Payroll (high volume) and/or Data control / reconciliation Experience in Logistics or transport industry, Km-based driver payroll and Bargaining Council environments Strong skills in Excel and Data analysis Strong understanding of Payroll systems and Compliance processes Responsibilities, but not limited to: Driver Payroll and Earnings Control Process payroll for 350-400 drivers Apply: Bargaining Council rates Per kilometre incentives Performance-based incentives Ensure: Accurate calculation of all earnings Timely and error-free payroll processing Performance Verification and Control Verify all km-based earnings against: Trip sheets/ Tracking records Delivery records Operational data from Team Leaders Ensure: All criteria for incentives are met Prevent: Overpayment Incorrect claims Leave and Work Cycle Control Enforce and ensure: 5 days off for every 25 days worked All annual leave is taken as required Control and monitor: Leave balances Absenteeism Leave compliance IOD and Leave Management Track and manage: IOD (Injury on Duty) cases All other forms of leave Ensure: Proper documentation Correct payroll impact Deductions and Loss Recovery Process approved deductions for: Damages Futile trips Operational mistakes Ensure: All deductions are approved by HR Proper documentation is in place Exception Management (Critical) Investigate: Irregular payments Unusual km patterns Abnormal earnings trends Identify: Errors Misreporting Potential abuse Escalate findings to management immediately Driver Role and System Updates Ensure accurate and timely updates of: Driver roles Payment structures System changes Maintain alignment between: HR records Operational roles Payroll system Reconciliation and Reporting Payroll vs operational data Payroll reports Exception reports Performance summaries Driver Queries Handle and resolve: Pay-related queries Km disputes Professional and accurate communication Record Keeping and Audit Control Maintain: Full payroll audit trail Supporting documentation Internal audits External compliance checks Team Structure Work within a 2-person payroll team Cross-training Full coverage during leave or absence Please note that should you not receive a response within 2 weeks of applying, you may consider your application unsuccessful.
