Position Overview
As an Entry - Level position, the Command Centre Intern reports to the Operations Support Manager.
The purpose of this position is monitoring of real time EFT processing and online transactions processing. Identifying and reporting on service impacting issues affecting the production environment, together with Ecentric products, networks and applications.
A clear understanding of the operational environment, an acute sense of urgency and the need to communicate accurately and meticulously whilst ensuring near 100% uptime is maintained are key requirements.
The Operations Department requires an Intern Operator with the ability to support the successful delivery of the Department's KPAs by taking responsibility of the following duties:
- Monitor Systems: Perform real-time system checks on servers, data processing activities, and connectivity.
- Alert Management: Recognize and escalate system alerts within set timelines (SLA/OLA).
- Troubleshoot Issues: Investigate, diagnose, and resolve technical issues related to servers, data, and connectivity.
- Incident Management: Manage and document incidents, following escalation procedures when necessary.
- Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in post-incident reviews and identify areas for improvement.
Requirements
Qualification and Certification
- Bachelor Degree
- Computer Science or similar is advantageous
Years of (relevant) Experience
- Graduates are encouraged to apply
- Between 6 months to 1 year years of experience in technical support or IT operations is advantageous
Professional Expertise
- Understanding of systems monitoring
- Understand the EFT Switching environment
- Understand the Batch processing environment
- Understand the different file movement protocol (SFTP, XCOM, CD etc.)
- Proficiency in identifying alerts and following troubleshooting procedures.

- Shift Work: 24/7 rotational shift schedule (Day Shift: 06:00 – 18:00; Night Shift: 18:00 – 06:00). 10 day rotation of 4 days 12 hour shift - 2 x Day 2x night - followed by 6 off days including 2 x standby days.
- Location: Onsite in Cape Town.
- Transportation: Access to reliable transport for shift work is essential.
