Technical Buyer

We are looking for a Technical Buyer to join our Procurement team.

The ideal candidate must have procurement/buying experience in a similar environment. The role will focus on sourcing technical components, requesting and comparing quotations, placing orders, following up with suppliers, and ensuring materials are delivered on time to support production.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary: Market-related, based on experience

Position is based in: Worcester, Western Cape

Key Responsibilities

Source and purchase technical and production related items.
Request and compare supplier quotations.
Ensure the correct items are ordered according to specifications, drawings, or production requirements.
Follow up on outstanding orders, lead times and urgent deliveries.
Maintain accurate supplier, pricing and delivery information.
Request required documentation where needed, such as material certificates, test certificates
Assist with cost savings, alternative suppliers and supplier performance follow ups.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years procurement/buying experience preferably in a technical or manufacturing environment.
Good technical knowledge of manufacturing and engineering components.
A degree or diploma in Engineering or a related field will be an advantage.
Good computer skills, especially Excel and ERP/MRP systems. Syspro experience will be an advantage.
Strong communication, follow up, negotiation and problem-solving skills.
Must be accurate, organised, proactive and able to work under pressure.
Must be willing to work 06:00 – 14:30 daily. Position is office based. (no remote work)
