Civil Engineer – Water & Wastewater Infrastructure

POSITION: CIVIL ENGINEER ( WATER & WASTEWATER INFRASTRUCTURE)

Ikhuba Holdings (PTY) LTD intends to appoint a Civil Engineer to support delivery of Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Projects, including conveyance, treatment and distribution systems. The role is suited for a Civil Engineer with experience in Municipal Infrastructure, someone agile with Integrity and strong work ethic.

KEY EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

a) BEng, BSc Eng, BTech or BEng Tech in Civil Engineering with 5 to 8 years’ relevant experience in Water and Wastewater Projects.

b) Experience in consulting engineering with experience in Municipal water, wastewater, bulk services or treatment works projects.

c) Must be an ECSA candidate. Professional registration with ECSA will be advantageous.

d) Valid Driver’s Licence and willingness to travel to project Sites when required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

a) Good understanding of civil engineering design principles and knowledge of Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Systems.

b) Experience with pipelines, gravity sewers, rising mains, pump stations, reservoirs and treatment works and associated civil infrastructure.

c) Ability to prepare clear technical reports, specifications and BOQs.

d) Practical Construction and Site experience.

e) Good communication, coordination and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently with senior review.

f) Proficiency in MS project, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Civil Designer, other modelling applications

g) Knowledge of GCC, NEC or FIDIC forms of Contracts

KEY ACTIVITIES/ RESPONSIBILITIES

a) Design, documentation, coordination and Site support for Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Projects from planning, concept design, up to detailed design, tender documentation, construction monitoring and project close-out.

b) Design of pipelines, sewer networks, mains, reservoirs, pump stations, chambers, manholes, treatment plant and associated civil works.

c) Prepare design calculations, technical reports, drawings, schedules, specifications and Bills of Quantities.

d) Conduct feasibility studies, condition assessments, capacity assessments and infrastructure upgrade planning.

e) Undertake contract administration, Site inspections and construction monitoring.

f) Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including process, mechanical, electrical, structural, geotechnical and environmental disciplines.
