About this role
As a Licensed AME Mechanical, you will play a critical role in maintaining the airworthiness, safety, and operational reliability of Airbus A320 family aircraft by performing line maintenance activities on the aircraft's mechanical and structural systems in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and Company procedures. The role requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, and a proactive, solutions-focused approach to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient aircraft operations while supporting on-time performance and operational excellence.
This position is based at Cape Town International Airport and operates on a 5-5-4 roster pattern, which includes weekends and public holidays.
The successful candidate will report to the Team Leader.
In this role, you’ll
- Carry out scheduled and unscheduled line maintenance on Airbus A320 aircraft within the scope of the SACAA A/C license and company authorizations.
- Troubleshoot and rectify mechanical and powerplant defects in compliance with OEM manuals and procedures (AMM, MEL/CDL, IPC, SRM).
- Perform pre-flight, transit, and daily checks ensuring airworthiness and timely serviceability of aircraft.
- Accurately complete and certify all maintenance documentation in line with SACAA CARs/CATS requirements.
- Liaise with pilots, operations control, and engineering teams to communicate aircraft status and resolve defects.
- Ensure correct and safe use of tools, equipment, and ground support vehicles in accordance with company procedures.
- Adhere to Safety Management System (SMS) principles, Human Factors, FOD prevention, and environmental protection standards.
- Assist with AOG recovery and support outstation maintenance as required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of airworthiness directives (ADs), service bulletins (SBs), and relevant regulatory changes.
- Promote teamwork, professionalism, and a solution-driven approach in the line maintenance environment.
Key Requirements
Qualifications
- National Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance, Aeronautical Engineering, or equivalent qualification.
- Valid SACAA Part-66 Aircraft Maintenance Licence in both Category A and Category C, including an Airbus A320 (V2500) type rating (CFM Advantageous)
- Previous Company A320 Approval (advantageous)
Experience
- Minimum 3–5 years hands-on mechanical maintenance experience on Airbus A320 aircraft.
- Proven experience in line station or ramp maintenance operations, including quick turnarounds and defect rectification.
- Familiarity with working in a high-pressure operational environment with time-critical tasks.
Knowledge
- SACAA Civil Aviation Regulations (CARs and CATS)
- Part-M/Part-CAMO requirements under SACAA jurisdiction.
- OEM documentation systems and technical publications (Airbus World, AMM, IPC, SRM, MEL/CDL,MOP).
- Safety protocols, Human Factors, EWIS, and Fuel Tank Safety training requirements
Skills
