IT Field Engineer - Client Support
HSC Systems
Based in Gauteng, servicing clients in Johannesburg and Pretoria
Own vehicle and valid driver's license required (fuel allowance provided)
About the Role
We're looking for a hands-on IT Field Engineer to support the IT environment for a portfolio of clients across Johannesburg and Pretoria. You'll work independently on-site as the client's day-to-day technical contact, with escalation support available for issues outside your scope.
What You'll Do
Support the IT environment at assigned client sites: servers, networking, desktops, unified communications
Investigate, diagnose, resolve, and document incidents and service requests within SLA
Conduct scheduled site visits and proactive maintenance
Set up and configure new workstations, hardware, and peripherals
Maintain and test onsite and offsite backups
Manage antivirus and RMM tooling
Escalate complex or specialist issues through the correct process
Flag upgrade or improvement opportunities in client infrastructure
Communicate with clients on incidents, changes, and planned downtime
Travel to client sites as scheduled
Requirements
3-5 years' hands-on IT support experience
Valid driver's license and own reliable vehicle — non-negotiable
Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and networking fundamentals (LAN/WAN/VLAN/routing)
Experience troubleshooting server, mail, and connectivity issues
Comfortable with antivirus consoles and RMM platforms
Advantageous
Exposure to firewall/security appliances (FortiGate, Sophos, MikroTik, or Cisco)
Exposure to AWS/Azure or virtualization platforms
A+, N+, CCNA or equivalent certifications
Microsoft MCSA/MCSE/MCITP
Linux experience
Office 365 administration
Prior MSP or multi-client support experience

R25,000 – R35,000 per month, based on experience
