We are currently looking for a Billing Assistant to join a US-based provider of ABA therapy services. This role is ideal for someone with experience in US medical billing who enjoys problem-solving, working with insurance claims, and ensuring billing accuracy.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Working Hours: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM EST (3:00 PM – 12:00 AM South African time – subject to daylight savings).
  • Public Holidays: This role requires working on both South African and U.S. public holidays (compensation for SA public holidays in accordance with the BCEA).
  • Internet Requirements: A fixed fibre line with a minimum speed of 25 Mbps (upload & download) and wired Ethernet capability is mandatory. Applicants without a fixed fibre line cannot be considered.
  • Power Backup: Reliable backup required to manage load shedding or outages. Applicants without a power backup cannot be considered.
  • Work Environment: Fully remote.

Job Responsibilities

  • Submit and process billing claims for Medicaid and private insurance providers.
  • Bill therapy session hours accurately through the Waystar clearinghouse.
  • Investigate and resolve denied claims by identifying the reason for denial.
  • Contact insurance companies to obtain claim information and resolve billing issues.
  • Correct and resubmit denied claims in a timely manner.
  • Assist with provider and company credentialing with insurance companies.
  • Ensure clinicians remain credentialed with the appropriate insurance providers.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with billing procedures.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in US medical billing, specifically submitting or processing claims to US insurance providers.
  • Experience using Waystar or CentralReach (experience with both is highly advantageous).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally with insurance companies.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Outlook.
