Data Platform Product Owner - Johannesburg or Cape Town (Hybrid)

Contract: 6 to 12 months (negotiable based on project scope) Working Model Hybrid: 3 days onsite | 2 days remote per week Purpose Our client is seeking an experienced Data Platform Product Owner to manage the enterprise Data Platform as an internal technology product. The successful candidate will define the product vision, roadmap, and backlog to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performing data platform capabilities that support analytics, AI, and business innovation across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Define and communicate the Data Platform product vision and roadmap. Own, manage, and prioritise the platform backlog based on business and engineering priorities. Drive the adoption and continuous improvement of enterprise data platform capabilities. Collaborate with Data Engineering, Architecture, Cloud, and Analytics teams to deliver platform enhancements. Balance platform scalability, reliability, performance, and operational excellence. Plan platform capacity, releases, and service improvements. Manage stakeholder engagement and product governance throughout the platform lifecycle. Champion Agile Product Ownership and drive continuous platform optimisation. Requirements Proven experience as a Product Owner or Platform Product Manager. Experience managing enterprise Data Platform products. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and/or Snowflake. Experience with cloud data platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure. Strong understanding of Data Engineering and Platform Architecture. Agile and Scrum delivery experience. Experience with product roadmap development and backlog management. Strong stakeholder management and value realisation skills. Financial Services industry experience is advantageous. SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager certification is preferred.
