SUMMARY
Our client, a leading organisation operating within the mining industry, is seeking to employ a Project Manager to join their team based in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
POSITION INFO
Requirements: Minimum 8-10 years' project management experience within the mining or mineral processing industry. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Project Management. Project Management Professional (PMP), PRINCE2, or equivalent project management qualification will be highly advantageous. Valid driver's licence. Extensive travel to operations in the Northern Cape and North West will be required. Proven experience managing large-scale mining projects from concept through commissioning. Demonstrated experience relocating, dismantling, transporting, reinstalling, and commissioning mineral processing plants. Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering, construction, and operational teams. Proven track record delivering projects safely, on time and within budget. Chrome, manganese, coal or other mineral processing operations. Brownfield and greenfield mining projects. Processing plant upgrades and expansions. EPC/EPCM project environments. Cross-border mining projects within Southern Africa. SAP, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6 or similar project management software. Experience reporting directly to executive leadership and boards. Responsibilities: Project Planning and Execution Full project lifecycle management, including planning, execution, commissioning, and project close-out. Development and management of project schedules, budgets, and resource plans. Risk identification and mitigation throughout the project lifecycle. Plant Relocation and Commissioning Planning and execution of complete processing plant relocations. Dismantling, transportation and reinstallation of crushing, screening, washing, and mineral processing plants. Mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and structural coordination. Commissioning and optimisation of relocated plants to achieve production readiness. Contract and Stakeholder Management Contractor selection, supervision, and performance management. Supplier and vendor coordination. Management of engineering consultants and external service providers. Executive reporting on project progress, budgets, risks, and timelines. Engineering and Operational Integration Coordination between engineering, maintenance, operations, and procurement teams. Interpretation of engineering drawings and technical specifications. Equipment installation, shutdown planning, and operational readiness. Health, Safety and Environmental Compliance Thorough understanding of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA). Strong commitment to safe project execution. Compliance with environmental legislation and company standards. Contractor safety management and legal compliance. Financial and Commercial Management Capital project budgeting and expenditure control. Procurement planning and contract administration. Cost forecasting and variance reporting.
