Qualifications and experience

National Diploma, BTech or Degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.

Minimum 15 year’s post qualification experience in major civil engineering or infrastructure projects.

Minimum 10 years in a senior engineering leadership, construction assurance, design coordination or construction management role.

Demonstrated experience on multidisciplinary infrastructure projects involving bulk water pipelines, pump stations, reservoirs or balancing dams, major civil or industrial infrastructure.

Applicants should demonstrate experience in construction assurance and engineering quality management, design monitoring, coordination and technical governance, interface and engineering risk management, construction methodology and multidiscipline coordination, contract administration under NEC, technical reporting and documentation, and commissioning and project handover.

Experienced in the application of civil/structural codes, standards and procedures used in construction projects

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Construction Assurance - Lead the Design Monitoring and Construction Assurance function, providing technical leadership and oversight to ensure that the permanent works are implemented in accordance with the approved engineering design, contract requirements, applicable standards and engineering best practice.

Design Monitoring and Engineering Governance - Direct the multidisciplinary design monitoring process throughout construction, ensuring that design intent is maintained and that technical queries, contractor submissions, design changes and engineering risks are effectively managed.

Construction Support and Quality Assurance - Provide proactive engineering support to the construction team by monitoring compliance with approved designs, identifying technical issues, recommending practical engineering solutions and participating in technical audits and quality assurance activities. Ensure that engineering records, inspections and technical

documentation are maintained in accordance with project procedures.

Stakeholder and Interface Management - Act as the principal engineering liaison between the Contractor, Construction Monitoring Team and Design Office. Lead technical coordination meetings, facilitate multidisciplinary communication to

support informed project decisions.

Commissioning and Project Handover - Provide engineering leadership during commissioning and project close-out by coordinating technical support, participating in testing and operational readiness reviews, verifying engineering records and as-built information, and ensuring the successful handover of the completed works in accordance with project requirements.

Strong technical background and expertise in the construction environment

Strong communication and people relation skills
