Strong Intermediate Data Engineer

Our client, a leading mining company, is seeking a Strong Intermediate Data Engineer to join a critical SAP project. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled data professional to contribute to a high-impact project within a large enterprise environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data integration solutions, ensuring reliable and efficient movement of data across business systems. While the role is primarily remote, the candidate will be required to work on-site in Johannesburg for approximately one week during the project go-live phase.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes and data pipelines.
• Develop, optimise, and maintain complex SQL queries and database solutions.
• Integrate data from multiple enterprise systems.
• Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across platforms.
• Troubleshoot and resolve ETL and database-related issues.
• Work closely with business stakeholders, project teams, and technical specialists to deliver project objectives.
• Support data migration and integration activities within the SAP project.
• Participate in testing, deployment, and go-live support.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Data Engineer in enterprise environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with ETL development and data integration.
• Advanced SQL skills with the ability to write and optimise complex queries.
• Experience working with relational databases.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work independently within a fast-paced project environment.

Advantageous Skills

• Experience working with SAP environments or SAP data integration.
• Previous experience on large-scale enterprise transformation or migration projects.
• Experience within the mining or industrial sectors would be beneficial.

Certifications: Relevant Data Engineering, SQL, Cloud, or SAP certifications will be advantageous.
