RCL FOODS is seeking a Electrical Foreman join our Milling division.
The Electrical Foreman is responsible for leading and supervising the electrical and instrumentation maintenance team to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of milling and packaging equipment. The role provides hands-on technical leadership across medium voltage systems, generators, PLCs, and automation while ensuring compliance with safety, food safety, and statutory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Supervise and lead Electricians and Instrument Technicians to ensure effective maintenance execution.
- Plan, allocate, and prioritise daily electrical, instrumentation, and automation work activities.
- Provide electrical, instrumentation, and automation breakdown support to milling and packaging operations.
- Oversee maintenance of medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) electrical systems.
- Ensure safe operation, testing, and maintenance of generators and standby power systems.
- Provide first-line technical support on PLC hardware, automation systems, HMIs, drives, and control panels.
- Ensure strict adherence to OHS Act with function as GMR2.7 appointee, electrical regulations, and LOTOTO procedures.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Review and ensure accurate completion of job cards, maintenance reports, and CMMS records.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) using tools such as 5-Why and Fishbone.
- Report equipment condition, risks, KPIs, and improvement actions to the Maintenance Manager.
- Drive shutdowns, capital projects, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- Trade Tested Electrician/Millwright with full apprenticeship
- Wiremans licence - essential
- N6 Diploma
- Installation rules SANS 10142
- FMCG experience in a factory environment
- PLC training and understanding
- Minimum 5 years experience in an FMCG, milling, or packaging environment, including supervisory experience.
- Strong working knowledge of medium voltage and low voltage electrical systems.
- Proven experience with generators and standby power systems.
- Solid understanding of PLC hardware, automation, and industrial control systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, loop diagrams, and OEM documentation.
- Experience with preventative maintenance systems, CMMS, and breakdown management.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in an diversity environment .
- Good communication, reporting, and organisational skills.
- Strong safety, quality, and food safety mindset.
