Purpose of the Role
To provide support to the accounting function by attending to and executing general accounts updating, verification and reconciliation activities and performing general office administrative duties such as filing, query handling and preparation and submission of documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Processing journal entries accurately and timeously.
- Maintain the integrity of general ledger accounts.
- Ensure supporting documentation is complete and available for review.
- Create Purchase Requisitions (PRs) on SAP for Central Services.
- Facilitate the creation and receipting of Purchase Orders (POs).
- Ensure timely processing of supplier payments.
- Verify the accuracy of supporting financial documentation.
- Prepare and submit payment requisitions and cash book payment requests.
- Assist with the preparation and processing of payment schedules.
- Monitor outstanding payments and resolve payment-related queries.
- Perform monthly reconciliations of general ledger accounts up to review stage.
- Process and reconcile intercompany transactions.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items within agreed timeframes.
- Process daily bank-related journals timeously and accurately.
- Prepare weekly and monthly bank reconciliations.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Matriculation Certificate and studying towards a relevant accounting qualification.
- 2-3 years in a general accounting or administrative field.
- Computer Literacy (Excel, Word, etc.).
Behavioural & Technical Competencies
- Microsoft and SAP experience would be advantageous.
- The ideal candidate must be meticulous and pay attention to detail.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and good analytical thinking.
- Must be pro-active, have good time management, organisational and prioritising skills.
- Be able to work under pressure, multitask and be a team player.
