A leading South African Investment Management and Financial Services business is seeking a driven, analytically sharp Business Analyst to join their Finance (Tax) division on a fixed-term contract basis.

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a high-impact, once-off capacity role focused on the stabilisation, remediation, and optimisation of the international product tax environment within the investment management ecosystem.

You will perform a comprehensive review of all tax-impacting events, processes, and products — ensuring these are fully, accurately, and consistently embedded in the relevant system landscape, supported by appropriate documentation, controls, validations, and exception reporting.

Working from current state assessments through to post-implementation support, the role drives efficiency, standardisation, and straight- through processing with clearly defined exception management.

  1. The Business Analyst will be responsible for requirements definition, gap identification, documentation, and supporting delivery — interfacing directly with IT delivery teams.

Scope

  • Tax systems, accounting, and regulatory reporting in a financial services environment
  • South African tax implications for relevant products and processes
  • International tax considerations where applicable (e.g., cross-border obligations; Guernsey and other jurisdictions as relevant)
  • System migrations, data remediation, and API-enabled environments
  • Data analysis, data-driven insights, and BI tooling
  • Business process improvement, control design, and straight-through processing
  • FATCA, CRS, and/OR cross-border international tax obligations
  • Agile delivery environments and structured requirements documentation

Key Deliverables

  • Complete catalogue of tax-impacting events, products, and processing flows for the client International Products
  • Documented current state and validated future state tax processes and system behaviours
  • Clear business and technical requirements aligned to tax rules and product intent
  • Gap register covering missing triggers, validations, controls, audit trail and reporting (including historic errors)
  • Prioritised remediation roadmap and delivery plan (including dependencies, testing approach and signoffs)
  • Defined and implementable tax control framework components (preventative and detective controls, monitoring and exception reporting)
  • Reduced dependency on ad hoc manual interventions through improved process design and automation opportunities

MINIMUM REUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • Relevant Financial Degree – Accounting Sciences – CTA; and/or equivalent professional designation
  • SAICA Certified / in process
  • Information Technology Degree/Diploma - Advantageous
  • CBAP – Certified Business Analyst Professional – Advantageous

Experience Requirements – Preferred

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in Business Analysis and/or Business Process Improvement (required)
  • Minimum 3–5 years' experience within a Financial Services or Linked Investments environment (required)
  • Demonstrated experience in system/process remediation, requirements definition, and IT delivery support
  • Proven experience working in Agile project environments
  • Experience with FATCA, CRS, and cross-border/international tax reporting (strongly preferred);
    • and/or any related cross/border international frameworks
  • Experience with system migrations, data remediation, and API development/implementation (highly advantageous)
  • Exposure to i nvestment management, asset management, linked investments, annuities, or insurance finance (preferred)

Technical Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced Excel — data interrogation, modelling, exception analysis
  • SQL / Data Querying — ability to write and interpret data queries
  • Business Intelligence tools: Power BI, QlikView (advantageous)
  • International Frameworks: Strong understanding of IFRS Financial reporting frameworks
  • Tax systems, triggers, and controls in a financial services environment (advantageous)
  • Business requirements documentation: BRDs, FRDs, process maps, gap registers, remediation roadmaps
  • Process Mapping methodologies: current state / future state, Design Thinking
  • UAT planning, test scenario definition, defect triage
  • Regulatory reporting: FATCA / CRS compliance frameworks – highly advantageous

R550 - R650 K - CTC GROSS per month – NEGOTIABLE for the right skills, experience.

  • Willing to work Hybrid and on site
  • Must have Clear ITC (Credit & Crim Records)
