Position

Junior Engineer (8 Positions)

Reference: EOD: T&D 0015

Qualifications And Other Requirements

Applicants must possess:

BSc in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent qualification
Zero (0) to two (2) years of relevant experience
Basic knowledge of power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution
Understanding of electrical design tools
Computer literacy and report-writing skills
A valid driver’s licence

Key Performance Areas

Technical Support and Operations

Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of electrical transmission and distribution systems
Support maintenance activities for substations, transformers, switchgear, and power lines
Participate in load analysis, fault detection, and system performance monitoring
Assist in troubleshooting power outages and system failures

Project Support

Contribute to engineering projects, including rural electrification and network extension initiatives
Prepare technical drawings, specifications, and reports
Monitor project progress and ensure compliance with timelines and budgets

Maintenance and Safety

Support preventive and corrective maintenance programmes
Ensure adherence to electrical safety standards, regulations, and company policies
Participate in safety inspections and risk assessments

Data Analysis and Reporting

Collect and analyse operational data related to power system performance
Prepare technical reports and documentation
Maintain accurate engineering records and system documentation

Customer and Stakeholder Support

Rectify technical issues affecting customers
Provide technical input during customer connection processes in collaboration with Customer Services and other departments

Compliance and Standards

Ensure compliance with national electricity regulations and LEC standards
Support environmental and regulatory compliance initiatives
