PURPOSE OF POSITION

Compile estimates timeously; provide support in terms of administration, proposals, and the day-to-day processes in the business development department. To ensure that client estimates, and prospect estimates are accurately done and sent to clients within the required turnaround time.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  1. Estimates
  • Compile estimates according to client and agent requirements for all transport modes both imports and exports.
  • Request landside and freight charges from agents and service providers worldwide.
  • Ensure that the estimate charges correspond to client rates in Cargo Wise and Forwarding Instructions
  • Quality check estimate on a continuous basis
  • Knowledge of Customs Tariffs and Port Charges
  • Forward estimate to the relevant sales or client services representative to quality check and forward to the client
  • Save approved estimate, in excel format, under the client EDOCS tab in Cargo Wise. Client Queries
  • Administrative support

  • Global agent rates negotiation
  1. Rates
  • Maintenance of Client rates and ensures all rate schedules are updated.
  • Communicate buy and sell rates to operations.
  • Negotiations of rates with third parties
  • In cases where rates are not on file, application is made to the relevant agent or third-party supplier for the necessary costs.
  1. Negotiations of rates with 3rd parties
  • In cases where rates are not on file, application is made to the relevant agent or third-party supplier for the necessary costs.
  1. Tenders
  • Complete tender according to client and agent requirements for all transport modes both imports and exports
  • Rate negotiations with carrier / Agents on current tenders to ensure best possible price with a marginable profit.
  • Submit tenders before deadline.
  • Follow up on tenders to see if Rhenus was successful in tender.
  1. Query Handling
  • Attend to any estimate or rate queries.
  • Communicate any queries and amendments to all parties involved.

REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge & Experience

  • Matric or Senior Certification equivalent
  • High level of Computer literacy
  • Knowledge of all transport modes – Air, Ocean & Road
  • Good administrative skills
  • Sound knowledge of Incoterms 2010
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Freight Forwarding and Clearing
